In 1927, John Ringling moved the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus winter quarters to Sarasota, helping turn the city into an important center of American circus culture. Performers rehearsed here, visitors came to see the circus behind the scenes, and nearly 100 years later, that history is still woven into Sarasota's identity.
